Shopping at 313 Somerset, Orchard Road
One of my favorite malls along Somerset, Orchard Road is 313 Somerset. Perhaps because it's smack right in the heart of Orchard Road, located just above Somerset MRT. Recently, with the opening of Orchard Gateway, this links together 313 Somerset to Orchard Central, creating an opportunity to beat the heat and have a seamless shopping and dining experience along Orchard Road.
313 Somerset has a good retail mix comprising of mostly high street fashion shops like Forever21, Zara, Promod, Mango, New Look, CottonOn, and Uniqlo. The hub of activity is centered around the first floor (connecting to Orchard Road) and basement levels.

Forever21, is one of the anchor tenants at 313 Somerset, catering to younger females at budget friendly prices. Forever21 has set up outlets across Singapore, however this outlet is still my favorite, perhaps because each floor is dedicated to completely different style, allowing a more cozy shopping experience.

Uniqlo has also become a favorite with many Singaporeans because of it's excellent quality cotton and fabric at decent prices. It has a wide selection of casual clothing for men, in particular interesting and colorful T-shirts, shorts in a multitude of colors. For ladies, a popular purchased item here is the jeggings - which are jeans in the form of tights. I also like Uniqlo for it's HEATTECH inner wear, perfect for winter, and in summer they sell AIRism to wick of the sweat. I must say Uniqlo does design clothes with technology and comfort in mind.

Dining at 313 Somerset, Orchard Road
313 Somerset offers an exciting hub of dining experiences. For the budget conscious, either head to the basement of the mall for small bites or to Food Republic, a food court on the top floor for a taste of Asian fare.
One of my favorite eats is at
Brotzeit, which offers German beer and food. Be sure to reserve a table on the second floor where you get to have a bird's eye view of the people passing by below.

If you are in the area in the afternoon, stop at Oriole Cafe for a cup of coffee, they do great coffees that borders on the acidic tone, one of my favorite spots for an affogato

A new queue has formed at the basement of 313 Somerset, this time for frozen yogurt called llaollao. If you must know, Singaporeans, generically known to be an impatient lot, will bother to queue for food that's worth the wait.
