This trip to Bangkok was quite unplanned, as I did not initially intend to go until half a year later. But a friend suggested the trip, and I decided to tag along, after all Bangkok is like a second home to me, even it meant just simply shopping, going to cafes, and eating Thai food, almost like an extension of what I would do in Singapore, but just more of it. There was a bit of rain in my recent trip there, and in a way that helped to lower the dust in the air, making it a pleasant walk especially in the mornings. Since this was a relaxing 4 day 3 night trip, we stayed near Chidlom Station, at the Renaissance Hotel, and that made things very convenience, as we spent most of our time walking on the sky walk rather than taking the BTS or cab.  In our first day upon arrival, the first thing was to head out to my favorite mall emQuartier. Having been to Bangkok countless of times, this was one trip that I wanted to take my time to enjoy Bangkok, instead of rushing from one place to another as what most would normally do. My days were planned around checking out cafes that I had not been too, a bit of shopping, and yes, massage. I also managed to use the gym in the mornings which was a huge plus. I think what makes each trip to Bangkok unique, as with repeated trips to the same place would be to stay in a different area each time, so that I can explore a little more in depth of a particular area. This time I stayed near the popular EmQuartier shopping mall. It took me a while to figure out the mall layout. It is divided into 2 blocks with one housing the luxurious brands and the other was a mix of shops. While most of the dining options is found on the top floors with great views of the cascading waterfall set in the backdrop of lush foliage, one can also find several cafes scattered around.

I decided to join a friend on a holiday to Bangkok and apart from planning our flight and hotel a month before, little else was done on what we were going to do once we arrived. My  itinerary  was as simple as checking out Central Embassy and have brunch at Roast Coffee and Eatery in Thonglor. It was challenging planning a trip as I wanted to include something new that I had not done before to keep the experience fresh so that this short holiday weekend in Bangkok was worth its while.  Day 1 Thursday - Central Embassy, Bangkok Thai Airways was offering a flights to Bangkok at S$250 which is probably S$70 more that a budget airline, so we decided to travel in greater comfort with a 30kg baggage allowance for our shopping needs. We took the past noon flight and arrived in time for regular hotel check in. I can't believe it I keep going back to the same destination in phases, and this time again in July a trip back to Bangkok with a large group of 5 adults and 2 kids. I was a little concerned about walking for the kids, given the stairs one would have to climb when taking the BTS (subway). However after this trip I realize it is indeed possible for families with young children to travel to Bangkok, the only thing would be that one would need to travel around at a much slower pace. As we were looking for an service apartment that could house 5 adults and 2 kids in a 3 bedroom apartment, we could only get the Somerset Lakepoint which had such a set up. In my recent trip to Bangkok, I took a very relaxed approach and decided to not to rush around Bangkok and maximise my time, but to take things easy. As I was with my parents during this holiday, I thought it was best to include a little of everything - eating at a nice restaurant, shopping, and a little bit of sightseeing as well. I recently returned to Bangkok, Thailand after a 4 year break. This time it was mostly a shopping trip with the gals. And where would the best shopping be? Of course, it's none other than at Platinum Fashion Mall . You could easily get a dress from between 360B to 460B and that is without bargaining. Their fashion is now much more updated than it was 3 years ago, following the trends of Hong Kong and Korean styles. Sizes tend to be small, fitting those size 4 to 10 perfectly. There are still clothes for the larger size, but limited. Levels 4 and below are all the clothes, and Level 5 of Platinum Fashion Mall has been transformed to an accessory floor. Recently they expanded with a new wing, just next door, and Levels 4 and 5 of the new wing is filled with shoes like flats, platforms, heels, boots of every conceivable color and style.
